For online store
Entrepreneurs held in the business sphere recommend cooperating not with one partner, but with several suppliers at once. Thanks to the work with two or three organizations that supply the ordered goods for you, you will be able to minimize the likelihood of its failure for some reason beyond your control.
It is not difficult to find a supplier for an online store; the main thing is to adhere to the following criteria:
the frequency of product updates;
the minimum amount of its purchase;
payment methods of the order;
the possibility of deferred payment;
availability of necessary documentation and relevant certificates;
methods of delivery of the ordered products;
location of the supplier’s warehouse;
availability of packaging in which the product is placed, and the need to pay for it;
the possibility of obtaining up-to-date information on price changes and new products;
guarantee the return of products and their exchange, if a marriage is found;
presence of a responsible person.
Note! The distance of the supplier from your city is important, because it depends on how quickly the ordered products will be shipped. Also, not superfluous before making the order of goods will look at their photos. Wholesale suppliers with a positive reputation, as a rule, have a fairly wide product range.
Typical work schemes
The simplest option is to use your own warehouse. This method is applicable if the products are small in size and sold in the retail market.
Note! Having stopped on this scheme of work, you as a benefit receive constant availability of goods in a warehouse, thanks to this you will be able to almost immediately receive payment for it from the buyer, you only need to deliver it to the office for sale. The disadvantages that are characteristic of this work scheme are the need to maintain a warehouse (payment for its rent) and the likelihood of a decline in demand for products — this should not be discounted.
Another option that does not provide for the use of the warehouse – work on order. This scheme is very convenient, since it frees you from the need to maintain a large storage room. An order arrives at your online store from the buyer, on its basis you check the availability of the requested products from the supplier with whom you cooperate and apply for it by making an advance payment, if required. Then the goods are sent to you, and you already send them to the buyer.
The disadvantages of such a scheme of work include the possibility of the absence of the goods requested by the buyer at the supplier’s warehouse, poor quality of products that cannot be checked in advance, and long delivery times. All this adversely affects the reputation of the online store.
